Siemens is actively seeking a Systems Engineer to join their Digital Grid team in Bayswater, VIC. The Systems Engineer will be responsible for designing, documenting and configuring system components in alignment with customer requirements and the proposed architectural solution. This role involves participating in design workshops with some customer interaction as well as working collaboratively with all team members throughout the entire lifecycle of the project. The Systems Engineer will be responsible for seeing through to completion allocated components within the solution, authoring the required design documentation and communicating the design to development and testing teams. A high level of technical understanding, attention to detail and a commitment to quality is necessity to successfully define and implement a working solution. The role will also require hands on configuration of the system.
We are looking for a strong technical individual who is dynamic and can apply their experience to enterprise software implementation in the Smart Meter / Smart Grid Utility space. Working knowledge of Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) and Meter Data Management (MDM) highly favourable. Ideal candidates will possess the ability to work independently, remotely and multi-task in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
The key responsibilities in this role are to design of document solution components such as interfaces, processing applications, workflows and configuration. Understand inner workings of the solution to collaborate with development teams, conduct workshops with customers on-site to gather and document system components, understand business issues, their drivers and articulate solutions through design, configuration change and product enhancements, maintain support environments and repositories of configuration, build tools and scripts to assist with the project activities such as data migration and automation, create user case strategies, and when necessary, help to create test strategies, and apply and maintain system configuration, as well as supporting testing teams with the investigation of solution defects and testing.
In order to be considered for this role you will have the ability to comprehend complex and interdependent business processes, a fundamental understanding of Smart Grid technology, experience in designing for and developing JAVA based applications, the ability to operate and configure UNIX based systems, including shell scripting, strong experience with PL/SQL and Oracle databases, and exceptional verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate with a diverse group of customers, partners, and colleagues
The ideal candidates will also have a number of years experience with enterprise software projects including utility front/back office application integration, and a degree in Computer Science/Engineering, Information Technology, Software Engineering or related fields.
