The Refugee Council of Australia (RCOA), the independent national community voice on refugee issues, is seeking a Communications Director, to be based in Sydney.
Funded predominantly by public donations and membership fees, RCOA was formed in 1981 as the national peak div for organisations working with refugees and asylum seekers. With the support of its 200 organisational and thousands of individual members and donors, RCOA conducts research, raises awareness and advocates on national and international issues affecting refugees and people seeking asylum.
The Communications Director is part of RCOA’s management team and leads a team of five staff responsible for RCOA’s work in media, fundraising, campaigns and community education.
The successful applicant will be a motivated and effective communicator with excellent writing skills, experience in media, public advocacy and marketing, relevant tertiary qualifications and an understanding of refugee issues. People of refugee background are encouraged to apply.
The base salary for this role is around $105,000 p.a, with additional payments for leave loading and superannuation of 9.5%. Fringe benefits arrangements for staff of public benevolent institutions are also available, increasing the effective value of the salary package.
